GUILD OF CARTOGRAPHERS & NAVIGATORS: how to find North

Far-Bjorn's way of finding North.

Many people will recommend looking at trees and seeing on which side the moss grows, or watching the way the geese fly in the evening, or using one of the strange floating spoons of the Oriental mages. I recommend two simple methods.
One: (or Primus: ) -- for the daytime: look at the bears around you. Golden bears belong in the south; brown bears come next; than black bears, and finally white bears. North is where you find the white bears.
Two: -- for the nighttime: look at the sky. There is a big ring of light (which is actually a lot of lights, called 'stars', all close together. Find that and look a quarter of the way round the sky, away from it. You should either see five stars arranged in a cross (which isn't the North), or you will see two bears, a big one and a little one. North is near the little bear, a bright star halfway between the tummy of the big bear and 5 (different) stars arranged like a letter 'W'
