<mikegamer> Sorry I'm late
<Dave> Its ok Mike. Glad you could make it. Its the middle
of the night where you are right?
<mikegamer> OK, what's up?
<Dave> So far Jane and I figured out where things left off before
the long hiatus kicked in. Which character were you
interested in Mike? Seems to me it was 'NoBison' right?
<mikegamer> I have read up to the start of the trip back from the
Island. Yes NoBison
<Dave> That's right. You had come up with a decent explanation of why it is that he has no Bison to ride....
<Jane> Well, we're here now. Mike, I have just updated the "so far"
page to include our arrival at the inn in Corflu, and
the gossip we picked up there. I think we'd better assume that
No-Bison was there, but was very quiet.
<mikegamer> Yes, but I wouldn't have told my companions right off.
<Dave> From that last log we decided that any Player Character was
there as well as any characters who were about to become Player Characters
so yes, NoBison would be there.
<Jane> It's evening, we're in the inn, we're eating and drinking.
<mikegamer> hic, hic, burp
<Dave> Just to set the stage a bit Corflu is a squalid little port - an outpost of the Lunars and their main seaport on the Praxian coast - perhaps the southern coast as well. The tavern is as crude as the rest of the town.
<Jane> Tomorrow is the day with no market, as I recall. And we came back here to pick up trade goods: at least, that's what we're telling people. So we'll just have to spend tomorrow wandering around chatting instead. What a shame ;)
<Dave> Always seems to work out that way for Varjeela doesn't it? Varjeela is of course the group's Issaries priestess.
<mikegamer> It's too humid for the likes of me any body else in the inn with us?
<Dave> Humid but not hot. Its late in the winter and cool/clammy these days. The weather is warming though. Within a few more weeks insect life will be returning to the delta.
<Jane> At least it's warmer and drier here than it was traveling.
<mikegamer> Praise Orlanth for that!!
<Dave> Yes, the roof manages to keep the floor dry where you folks are
(And we figured out how to change nicknames under mIRC at this point)
<Varjeela> (Sips more ale, contentedly)
<Varjeela> I think there were a bunch of local dock-workers in here, weren't there?
<NoBison> (Drinks heavily)
<Gamemaster> I'm going to try pasting the bit about the rumours into
the log here. Stand by in case everything goes haywire ok?
(It didn't. So here's the cut&paste)
In addition to the business of crates of goods arriving in Corflu the following conversations at nearby tables are noted by group members: From a group of locals sitting near the entryway to the main room of the tavern you all will hear snippets of conversation relating to the imminent commencement of shipping activity on the Zola Fel between Corflu and Pavis. It will become apparent to all that shipping on this route dies down considerably during Dark Season due to the lowness of water levels. Now, with snow melting up north and increased precipitation of late the river's waters are on the rise. From another group over in the corner you will hear tale of distant lands far away in Pamaltela where several of the people at the table claim to have been while serving aboard ships.<NoBison> (brooding in silence
<NoBison> Umm, Lady what you tink about tales of people with
black skins.
<Varjeela> Tales of people with black skins? The Agimori?
Their tales are usually about hunting, are they not?
<NoBison> Naw, I mean those sailors talking bout the south land.
<Varjeela> "The south land? I know nothing of the place but some
wild stories. Do the people there have black skins, then? I had heard many
of them were blue, or green, or something equally unlikely
<NoBison> Those sailors talked about some black skins
said they had strange ways
<Varjeela> "They did? My apologies. I was trying to hear what goods
they had brought back, and missed the skin colour."
<NoBison> (gulg)
<NoBison> Talking's always thirsty work
<Gamemaster> "So," says Nijehl. "What's the story?"
<Varjeela> (he can't have finished the last drink already? Order
a jug for the table)
<Gamemaster> Nijehl looks like he's going to come apoart at the
seams - so curious is he....
<NoBison> SAID NOT NOW!
<NoBison> whisper UP in room
<Varjeela> (shrug) "Later, then, perhaps. In private, if that's
what you prefer. I'm sure we can help you: after all, we have helped others,
if you recall."
<NoBison> Assume we are there in room after moving.
<Gamemaster> "Ahhhh" says several of the companions simulataneously.
Without further adieu they make whatever preparations are necessary and
retreat to the largest of the rooms above.
<Varjeela> And settle down, and listen eagerly.
<Gamemaster> Indeed!
<NoBison> Well, my brothers & I was hunting broo when we caught
a group and were taking them apart right good!
<NoBison> I got caught up with their so called shaman
<Varjeela> (Nods approvingly)
<NoBison> I gave him a couple of good whacks. Then just before
I finish him he lets off with a big spell (glug, glug) It's made
me miserable ever since
<Varjeela> "So what did this spell do?"
<NoBison> Ok I sneeze and tear up any time I'm near a bison
<Gamemaster> He's allergic!
<NoBison> If I stay around too long I can't even breathe (burst
into tears)
<Gamemaster> Any allergists in Glorantha?
<NoBison> Orlanth damed shamans!
<Varjeela> (Pat him on the back, pass him a drink).
<NoBison> glug
<Varjeela> "Sounds like a curse... and that means a spirit. But
any shaman should have been able to get rid of it for you."
<NoBison> And the worst part is I detect as chaotic when I'm around
a bison!!!!
<Gamemaster> (Your GM has tears rolling down his cheeks from
laughter right now bye the way!!)
<Varjeela> "When the spirit is active: it must be a disease spirit.
Yes, I'm sure this can be corrected. The White Ladies could deal with it
if it's a disease spirit, I'm sure."
<NoBison> And the priests always think there is chaos around somewhere
when I'm arond even if there is no bison any where near by
[ <Varjeela> (Yes, that's a wonderful story! Thanks Mike)
