Feroda campaign: events so far

Session Sunday 21st March: back to Corflu.

(Varjeela and Nijehl present)

Varjeela> We're paddling back to Corflu, aren't we?
Dave Black> Someone had asked the question in the emails if the boats had any excess capacity. Not much but there's enough for say 1 extra body (funny how it works eh?)
Varjeela> What a strange coincidence. I think I was asking about putting the stuff we've bought so far into a warehouse or equivalent in Corflu.
Varjeela> Thus leaving us more boat space (for trade goods, of course!)
Dave Black> Presumably not a problem And so a return trip to Corflu commences/
Varjeela> Arrange it through the Trade temple? Asking about who's in charge, and who used to be in charge, as I do so?
Dave Black> As I recall it it will take a couple of hours to get back to the place where the road to the ruins strikes off inland.
Varjeela> Yes. I think we'd left the boats there? How many of us are on this return trip: the lot?
Nijehl> Yes, I think so... but were we to camp outside Corflu with the prisoner, or going inside immediately?
Varjeela> Is the "prisoner" with us? We were going to "borrow" his services when we went further into Duck-land, but is he coming to Corflu?
Nijehl> Hehe.... I got a bit confused now Jane actually.... I can't really recall what the plan was... Dave, can you remind us?
Dave Black> The last log shows that at least one boat was present - probably the cargo vessel.
Dave Black> The Avniari appear to have washed their hands of him.
Nijehl> If I remember correctly, we had one both with us, and one hidden somewhere... I do recall placing stuff in the boat when the ducks came.
Dave Black> I seem to recall that some people were actually going back into Corflu while the remainder were to wait outside the settlement.
Varjeela> That sounds about right to me (after some hasty log-reading). So they're just going to let the prisoner go? Leaving them with no interpreter?
Dave Black> Apparently
Varjeela> Hmmm. So all our conversations from now on will be in front of the prisoner. Does he speak Pavic?
Dave Black> No, he does not appear to understand anything other than that strange Duck tongue and New Pelorian
Nijehl> Not even Trade Talk>
Varjeela> And Trade, I believe? (How he's been talking to us!)
Dave Black> Oh. Was it Trade? OK.
Varjeela> (Much searching later): The log he say: "This spoken first in Pelorian and then in Tradetalk"
Dave Black> Thanks Jane.
Varjeela> Conversation between myself and Nijehl from now on will be in very colloquial (sp?) Pavic.
Dave Black> The Lunar, you will all notice, seems somewhat starnge in that he appears to accept whatever other decide for him. He has no questions about where he is going and no apparent concerns about being
Dave Black> handed over to the group.
Dave Black> OK. Pavic it is.
Nijehl> Does he speak to us, or just replies when we address him?
Varjeela> I'm beginning to wonder if he's ill, though of course the head injury could have affected him. Could Mawth take a look at his spirit and see if anything apears to be wrong?
Dave Black> More just the latter
Varjeela> (Rules translation: how low is his POW?)
Dave Black> I'm sure he (Mawth) could. I will ask Saravan to do this by email. The event would occuring that evening in Game Time once the group stops to camp for the night.
Varjeela> Fine. We don't want to travel with someone with Soul Waste, after all!
Dave Black> About the guy's Power rating I won't answer directly but will say that its safe to assume it is lower than it would normally have been.
Nijehl> Dave... did he make a distiction between us humans, including him, and the ducks? That we are a different race, and he is one of us, not them? (What to judge his state of mind)
Dave Black> He seems to recognize two groups of people.
Dave Black> Whether he sees himslef as an Avniari or not is still a question
Varjeela> When the rest of us are not chatting in Pavic, I'll try to keep talking to him. See if any more memories come back. (And see if I can learn any Duck-talk!)
Varjeela> He does realise that he lacks feathers, I take it?
Dave Black> OK. So the group will begin walking back to where the main boat lay hidden and towing behind them the cargo boat right?
Varjeela> Yes.
Nijehl> Yep...
Varjeela> I thought we had both boats with us, actually, but if you say so...
Varjeela> (Joss was loading "boats", plural)
Dave Black> Strangely it seems almost anti-climactic but you set out and several hours later arrive at the spot where your remaining vessel lays hidden and untouched.
Nijehl> (Can't really remember myself, but I don't think it will make much of a difference actually...)
Varjeela> (phew! GM trying to scare us or what?)
Nijehl> (hehe...)
Dave Black> Let's go with one boat left behind. I'm just relying on memory but it seems right to me. As Picard would say "Make it so."
Varjeela> We now have two boats. Having looked up my Swim skill, this seems good!
Dave Black> Anyone hazard a guess at what time of day it is? I suspect its late afternoon...
Nijehl> Probably...or early evening...would guess around 5pm...
Varjeela> We camped over night, then went to the duck village to trade. 3 hours walk, you said. And we've walked back... yes, late afternoon to early evening.
Varjeela> Depends on how long we spent trading. And how much the prisoner is slowing us down: is he fit for much hiking?
Dave Black> Yes he seems fit for hiking but his movements are odd and its likely he has sustained other injuries not visible that impair his ability to move.
Dave Black> I'd say the group spent two or three hours.
Dave Black> Trading that is.
Dave Black> Anything that needs doing or discussing at the camp? NIJEHL> Yes... who is going to corflu and who is staying outside with the lunar
Varjeela> If it's evening now, do we want to go much further today? We'd have to set up camp soon anyway.
Dave Black> "Why not do the way we did before?" says Huff. Split group in two with one group staying at that base camp on island where Skull Rock is and rest of group go on back to Corflu?"
Varjeela> Sounds good to me.
Nijehl> Yes... Ok, who is going inside?
Dave Black> OK. A bit of geography. You are presently at the place near the ruins. The camp that Huff referred to is about a day's journey further west. Corflu itself is about a day further west of that.
Varjeela> Me, probably Nijehl (we can use his sharp eyes!) Mawth I think should stay with the patient: I'm a bit worried about his health.
Varjeela> Ah, thanks, Dave. So we have another day's journey before we split up.
Dave Black> Huff would have no particular desire to go to Corflu - nor NoBison for that matter.
Nijehl> *grins* Ok, would love to go to Corflu...
Varjeela> Joss could probably get more information from the riverfolk than most of us.
Dave Black> And this evening (game time) Mawth will try to discern what he can of Koronius' spiritual health.
Varjeela> hen again, so could Mawth. Up to him where he feels most needed, I'd say.
Dave Black> Mawth will consider that and let the group know where he feels most usefull before the group arrives at the final decision point.
Nijehl> I suppose that it is better if Joss comes over. A shaman could get unwanted attention....
Nijehl> Especially since we need to learn more on Koronius
Dave Black> OK. Shall we call it a day then?
Varjeela> Yes, we can't do a lot more without Saravan. Unless you want to tell us how much, if anything, we get out of Koronius.
Varjeela> (And how much Duck-speak I've learnt!)
