Without further ado here's what I was able to save from yesterday's log (beginning with Jane's response in the affirmative that the Corflu Group would've bought supplies while there):
".... before we left, and a food shortage would have been obvious."
Dave Black> Yes. Also, I left it pretty vague but you'll need
to let me know how much Varjeela spent on trade goods ok?
Jane> You also left VERY vague how much we spent on boats and
supplies in Pavis! Currently I have no idea how much money she has left.
Dave Black> Did I? Oooohhh - I must fix that!
Jane> Yes - we went from "must go shopping today" to "you arrive
at Corflu" in one bit of text. Not a problem if it makes for better game
play, but don't ask me to do sums.
Dave Black> No. I'll clean that up after the meeting. You must
have a fair amount left though. Let's say she spent something like 5 wheels
on trade goods. When you guys return to the camp in the swamps you find
that the others have kept quite busy and really straightened the place
up.
Varjeela> Oh, good. Straightened up a swamp? I'm impressed!
(about my turn!)
Dave Black> Jane! I'm not talking about vacuum cleaning and
such here... No, they have cleared an area and constructed small dwellings.
Varjeela> So we share out the fresh food supplies, relax on
the cushions they've woven out of grasses, sip the beer they've brewed
from the cups they've made out of clay, and discuss what to do next.
Dave Black> You will note that Mawth and Huff seem to have established
a strong friendship. Huff is much more talkative than previously.
Varjeela> I thought they would, given time to get to know each
other. Do either of them have more information on the spirits of this place,
now they've spent time here?
Dave Black> Mawth seems healthier too following the rigors of
his recent ordeal.
Varjeela> Excellent! And how is our bison-riding friend? Any
less depressed?
Dave Black> Yes. Mawth explains that there are many spirits
in the area but they are weak and not a threat normally. The dangerous
spirits reside in specific areas of the delta - like the ruins suspected
of being Feroda for example.
Dave Black> NoBison is NoLessDepressed.
Varjeela> Hmm. Somehow that doesn't surprise me. (to both comments!)
I wonder how the Ducks cope with living next to dangerous spirits?
Dave Black> Mawth replies: "Perhaps they have some powerful
Shaman in their tribe."
Varjeela> I suppose they must. And that'll be the one we need
to talk to. Any idea what a shaman would want in the way of trade goods,
Mawth?
Dave Black> "We Shaman tend to appreciate all manner of little
oddments." he replies.
Varjeela> Well, that's about what I've brought. Here, take a
look, see what you think.
Dave Black> Mawth looks through all of the trade goods. He sees
the clay as being particularly trade-able since it is of a higher quality
than that normally available in the swamps.
Varjeela> Fine. Well, if everyone is rested, and it's a suitable
time of day, shall we continue to visit the ducks?
Dave Black> That'll be the following morning. After breakfast
the group breaks camp. Nijehl suspects that there is a way to get there
simply by following the river east but Joss is hesitant. "Too many channels
maybe," he says.
Varjeela> I would prefer to take the boats as far as we can.
We do have trade goods to transport, after all, and what we buy from them
may be bulky.
