Mawth> Mawth is happy to learn Trade from Varjeela, and about
an hour a day for Boatspeech seems reasonable - Mawth is more interested
in spiritual business around here...
Joss> Joss is likewise interested in learning 'Tradetalk' though
he finds the whole thing amusing rather than useful and tends to get distracted.
Mawth> But then again, when not around here, Mawth is happy
to instruct Varjeela in the ways of the river people, and that would include
a lot of Boatspeech I think...
Dave Black> OK. I do some calculations afterwards based on these
figures.
Dave Black> The ruined roadway that leads towards the abandoned
site continues further into the boulder strewn area. You can make out the
signs of foundations of buildings and such here and there.
Mawth> Was Mawth able to establish any sort of sense of other
presences around... (was the giant's presence too strong to discern anything
else?)
Dave Black> Tall marsh grass has invaded the area and so the
true dimensions of the site are hidden from you. You can only guage your
assessment based on an area about 25 spear lengths square.
Mawth> "This looks like the ruins of invaders, not of natives
to the River"
Dave Black> The giant's presence was the one presence you were
forced to concentrate on Mawth and therefor you can't be sure there isn't
other entities within although from the Giant's attitude you would doubt
there'd be anything powerful nearby.
Nijehl> Is there anything that might show that this place, or
the surrounding area is visited regularly? (tracks, feathers of ducks...)
Dave Black> No. In fact every indication is that this place
is seldom visited. 'NoBison', in answwer to Mawth's observation, says "God
Learners built Feroda according to legends of my people."
Mawth> Being a glutton for punishment, after I have rested,
I would like to examine the area in more detail and determine the spiritual
layout of the area... (perhaps even as far as the duck village...) However,
I think for now my spiritual senses are reeling from the ceremony, so I
will try to contemplate the ruins at an intellectual level only...
Joss> Joss, feeling kind of tired and unused to all the excitement
of recent days, will keep watch, though fairly idly.
Mawth> Mawth would like to have a bit of a wander in the near
area - examine the stone ruins and the plant life nearby
Nijehl> I move a bit around the ruins, trying to see if there
is anything interesting.
Joss> Joss will wander around keeping an eye out for ducks and
nasty undead things and will do his best not to fall over hidden stones.
Mawth> After a short wander, Mawth returns and mentions "There
seems to be some plant life from foreign parts which has survived well.
I wonder is it too has affected the life of the native creatures"
Mawth> I guess its probably getting late in the day by now, so
its probably a good idea to think about camping... Do we want to set up
around here? It might well be relatively safe given that it is only recently
'vacated' so to speak
Dave Black> You'll have a few hours of daylight left. Of course
it'll take a fair bit to make a proper camp so the actual time available
is somewhat less I suppose...
Mawth> If we want to head towards the Ducks that will presumably
give us enough time to get to their village...
Nijehl> We might set up camp yes.... What if we have problems
with the ducks? Then we will have the disadvantage of the night... I suggest
we camp here for tonight, and move to the camp tomorrow morning...
Joss> "'Ow far are we from t'ducks? Might be best to 'ead straight
there. It'd look odd if we were to show up early in t'mornin' and leavin'
traces of a camp round 'ere may not be so good."
Dave Black> "Perhaps the Ducks have local knowledge of this
place and can confirm whether this is Feroda or not..." mused Varjeela.
Mawth> Mawth's preferences would probably be to stay overnight,
and then do a more detailed investigation tomorrow, but he agrees with
Joss that the Ducks are an important party in all this and it would be
good not to get on their bad side. So I'm happy to go if others want to...
Nijehl> "Will probably take us the rest of the day to arrive
to the ducks" (Right Dave?). "They have already suggested we leave the
area, so it is better if we go there prepared for every eventuality".
Dave Black> Actually not quite right Nijehl. Certainly not more
than 2 hours or so to the Duck Village. I'll have to check my notes to
be sure but it may have been more like half an hour... (He checked:
it's about 3 hours).
Mawth> Perhaps we should set up camp at the road to suggest
that we have not violated the place... We don't know what they might think
about us 'freeing' the giant's spirit after all...
Joss> So we could get there before it gets dark?
Dave Black> Yes. .
Joss> "Aye, Mawth. That'd be better'n campin' 'ere."
Nijehl> Dave... How tired are we at the momnet? (If we get to
fight or have to escape hurriedly, can we manage?)
Dave Black> "It would be in better keeping with our cover of
being traders," says Varjeela.
Mawth> Anyway that's enough from me - I think it probably is
better to visit the Ducks after all if others think so... "I would like
to talk with them about the River..."
Dave Black> Yes although you'd be at a disadvantage.
Joss> Joss agrees with Varjeela.
Nijehl> "Better if we try and remove our tracks from here, and
move to camp on the road. Then tomorrow off to the ducks... posing as traders".
