Nijehl> I have only a dagger, which I pull out, and then wait for magical spells to be cast. Anyway, I don't think I can do much against that blob...
Dave Black> Varjeela suddenly gets a strange expression (an expression
that everyone in Glorantha is familiar with who have been exposed to Divine
Magic that is).. Her eyes seem to focus on you and bore into your soul.
Then she reaches forth and touches your hand while uttering some unintelligible
chant...
(All very puzzling to Varjeela's player, reading this later, who
had listed the SPIRIT magic she was going to cast!)
Nijehl> I stare at her. And blank my mind for her magic to work
Dave Black> After a moment she breaks off and, without a word
moves on to Joss. You feel somewhat emboldened by the fact that the attention
of the priestess has been upon you. Meanwhile the glob has been advancing
slowly. The Nomad has landed on the ground at the base of the rock. The
glob is about 10 spear lengths from him (and about 12 spear lengths from
the rest of the group) A rumble of thunder rolls across the delta... Another
sprinkle of rain pelts the area.
Nijehl> I wait for until the nomad is about to contact (and look up at the sky as I hear the thunder), and then jump down and charge in with him.
Dave Black> You hear Varjeela behind you working on Joss. Before
your plan can begin something happens. With horror you see a pale blue
glow emanate from the glob and arch twoards the Bison Rider's chest. With
a shriek of revulsion and anger the nomad, rather than slumping to the
ground like Mawth did, springs immediately to the attack.
Nijehl> "Damn stupid smelly thing!!" I jump down behind the
nomad.
Dave Black> The nomad draws back his sword and hacks mightily
at the glob. Somehow the nomad missed (to your utter amazement). The glob
looks like it should be easy to hit.
Nijehl> I charge from behind the nomad, trying to get in a good
position and away from the now angry sword swinging nomad. Then I slash
at it with my dagger.
Dave Black> You score a beautiful hit on the glob. Although
there's no visual proof of it you are sure that the knife dod some real
damage to the entity.
Nijehl> I immideatly raise the dagger and slash at it once more.
Dave Black> You hear someone else approaching from the rock
and out of the corner of your eye you see Joss.
Nijehl> (And pray that the nomad hits it!!)
Dave Black> Nope, not so lucky this time.
Nijehl> Is the glob attacking?
Dave Black> You notice (much to your horror) that a blue glow
is forming within the glob At that instant the bison rider swings again
Nijehl> I try and move to the side... away
Dave Black> A triumphant yell peals forth from him as his sword
strikes deeply into the glob's 'body' The blue glow dissipates... The force
of the impact has driven the glob backward (either that or its retreating)...
Nijehl> I make space for Joss to come in as well... and as it
staggers back, I reach for it again.
Dave Black> A tingling (but not unpleasant) sensation washes
over you from behind where Varjeela still stands on the rock. A quick look
around you reveals that all of the defenders appear to be shimmering.
Nijehl> I ignore the tingling not knowing exeactly what it is,
and swing the dagger again.
Dave Black> No dice Ivan. (Or should we say "Get new dice Black!")
Nijehl> Hehe....you need my pair of dice at this time!!!
Dave Black> Joss will take his attack. As he does so you can
see the blue glow beginning to take form again inside the glob's body.
Joss' attack also misses the mark. The bison Rider lets out a tremendous
roar as he brings his sword down again...
Nijehl> Watching the blue light, ready to dodge it. And then
slash at the thing once more.
Dave Black> You can see by the trajectory that this strike was
successfull to some degree. Again the blue glow dissipates. Before another
strike can be mounted the glob quickly retreats and, moments later, vanishes
entirely from the area.
Nijehl> I turn to Joss. "What was that?"
Dave Black> Breathing somewhat heavily Joss shakes his head
and shrugs...
Nijehl> I clean my dagger with some soil and then wipe it in
the grass, and start to walk slowly towards the rock.
Dave Black> Your actions are mimicked by the other combatants.
Within a few moments you have all re-assembled at the
rock. Mawth is pale and still unconscious. The skies are now growing
quite dark with swollen dark grey thunderclouds.
Nijehl> "Varjeela, do you know what the glob was?"
Dave Black> The rains will arrive any moment...
Nijehl> "Shall we finish off the shelter before it starts to
rain?"
Dave Black> "No," replies Varjeela. "I suspect Mawth does though..."
With that everyone turns their attention to this very practical matter..
Luckily the shelter was almost complete when the glob attacked and it does
not take long to finish.
Nijehl> Nod to her. "We will ask him as soon as he gets up.
I suspect that the thing might be back"
Dave Black> By the time the clouds open up and the deluge begins
everyone is safely ensconced inside the dwelling where it is dry. Overhead
a loud crack of thunder reverberates over the delta.
