<Gamemaster> As I recall it the group had just re-untited at the
base camp after having gone north to check out Huff's proposed alternate
market
<Varjeela> That's how I remember it. Varj had a Cunning Plan, and
the rest of the group were trying to figure out what was in it for them.
<NoBison> Actually we were just finished checking out the alternate
market, as I recall
<Gamemaster> Yes, in the last minute or two I pressed the group
to make it back to base camp. Wanted to be able to start the next meeting
off there...
<NoBison> Ok,by me :-)
<Varjeela> So at least all the PCs are back together, even if the
players have vanished again :(
<Gamemaster> You would be arriving at base camp fairly late in the
afternoon I believe. When you arrive you find Joss and the Lunar there
as expected. They seem to be getting along ok.
<NoBison> I'll just give my scimitar a bit of sharpening and oiling
<Gamemaster> How will you handle explaining to Joss and the Lunar
what decisions were made??
<Varjeela> The Lunar stilll seemed very dazed when we last met him.
How is he now?
<NoBison> I'll leave it mostly to Varjeela, I'm not much of a talker
<Gamemaster> I'm not sure dazed is quite right. He is certainly
still pretty much the way he was though. Not completely coherent in his
recollections.
<Varjeela> As I recall, the Lunar speaks Lunar (not a surprise)
and Trade. We can have conversations between myself and Joss in Pavic without
te Lunar understanding?
<Gamemaster> Ok.
<Varjeela> I think all we want to tell the Lunar is that we're back
with trade goods, and are thinking of setting up a "permanent" trade station
between Corflu and the ducks. He would be based there, as an interpreter.
Does he think the ducks will go along with this?
<Varjeela> We'll tell Joss the lot: but do you really want to role-play
it out?
<Gamemaster> No - I just wanted a sense of how you were going to
handle it. This is fine.
<NoBison> Will we be building the trade station or might we get
some help from the ducks?
<Varjeela> Or even from Huff's family? But we need duck approval
of the site first.
<NoBison> Yes that is now our first priority
<Gamemaster> Sounds like the group intends to return to Glarlk (the
Duck settlement)...
<Varjeela> Yes. And try to remember the fancy name these ducks call
themselves: Avari or something? (Will look back through log)
<NoBison> Yes tomorrow morning
<Gamemaster> Avianari if my typing was in synch with my notes on
that day...
<Varjeela> Sounds about right to me. Does the Lunar have any idea
what the Avianari opinion might be?
<Gamemaster> Evening turns to night and night gives way to day.
The sun rises (behind the wall of dark overcast clouds) and sullen gloom
floods forth across the delta.
<Gamemaster> Ahhh. The Lunar will tell you that he thinks the Ducks
will be excited about it!
<Varjeela> At least it isn't actually raining.
<Varjeela> Favourably excited?
<Gamemaster> Jane's learned to be cautious with GM pronouncements
I see.... Yes, he thinks the Ducks will be happy to participate.
<NoBison> Yipeee!!
<Varjeela> Oh, good. Let's go and tell them about it, then. (Of
course, all NPCs are always correct in everything they tell us. Cynicism
only goes so far, right?)
<Gamemaster> It takes the group the better part of the day to make
it to the Duck settlement - if that's indeed what they aim to do.
<NoBison> Bring along our trade goods to show them what they can
expect to get
<Varjeela> Of course! We got them some metal goods as requested,
didn't we?
<Gamemaster> Having travelled the route before they have little
trouble along the way.
<Varjeela> Trouble? Us?
<Gamemaster> The group finds the settlement as they had left it.
Remembering their first visit they will recall that they made their contact
on the southern portion of the community (the part that lay on the opposite
side of the river to where the official buildings and such seemed to be
located).
<NoBison> Do we camp out side the town or do they let us in this
time?
<Gamemaster> To restate that, the river forms a Y and the main settlement
is at the juncture of the two channels. The first contact was on the left
and side across from the juncture...
<Varjeela> Whereever seems appropriate, given the direction we're
coming from.
<Gamemaster> Since you are coming by water you could beach the craft
on the island in the middle where all the official buildings are. Or you
could do as before and beach the craft some distance from the settlement
upstream where they can be guarded or hidden.
<Gamemaster> There are other possiblilities as well...
<Varjeela> Let's be open about it. Head for the official buildings,
slowly, and see if we're met.
<NoBison> Yes are we waved off before we beach or are we allowed
to beach and walk toward the main buildings?
<Gamemaster> As you approach your presence is detected and a series
of watercraft are dispatched. Once they identify you they cease to maintain
an agressive posture and switch over to guiding your craft to a landing
beach near the juncture of the two channels.
<Varjeela> Fine. So that's what we do (unless the people actually
doing the steering disagree?)
<NoBison> (sounds good for the team)
<Gamemaster> There are a number of warrior type Ducks around as
well as some familiar looking officials approaching from the heart of the
settlement.
<NoBison> Varjeela, how about when you don't need me any more I
see if any of the other warriors want to go drinking?
<NoBison> Warrior ducks that is
<Gamemaster> We can probably say that through your interpretor the
proposal is floated. The group is given leave to trade their goods while
the Duck officials go off to deliberate about the idea of the market.
<Gamemaster> Sound ok?
<Varjeela> Sounds like a good idea, No-Bison, as long as you and
they have a language in common?
<Varjeela> Dave: sounds good to me. We trade, I try to pick up some
of their language. The Lunar stays with me as interpreter.
<NoBison> probably good old charades will have to do
<Gamemaster> Ok. NoBison tries to strike up friendships as best
he can then?
<NoBison> Yes, pantomine drinking.
