Events - Doddington, 2006

Doddington is a village near Ely.

I can report only on the second day of events (the one with the battle), having missed Day 1 due to a cold. Notable for my first appearance as a Vivandiere rather than in a bad male disguise, and for using this to re-write our drill documentation. (At least one pre-release draft never actually fired the gun!)

The battle story to the extent that I understand it is that we were near a Union camp and their guns, hiding in the bushes. The infantry with us crept out and captured the guns, then we joined them, turned the guns round on the camp, and started using them. Much back and forth later, with no-one having ever shot at us, were were ordered to retreat. Almost out of ammo, anyway. I'm not too sure why we lost the battle, I gather the Green Goblins (Union sharpshooters) had had their flag taken, too. All went well for the South, except that the script says we lost...
